Riding for the Children’s Charity

Vrooooooooom!!! This is the sound that we’ll be hearing over the next four days (19-22 October) as five of SACARE’s members including SACARE founders Sue and Andrew Marshall, their daughter Chloe Kempe her husband Mark, and Karin Semmelmann, as they take ride in the V2 Motorcycle Run.

This year is the 10th Anniversary – Started in 2007 under the chairmanship of Anthony Toop. It has had a core group of regular riders over that 10 years with a number who have done it every year. Andrew has done nine (including this year) and Sue has been pillion on eight.

On average there are between 25 and 30 riders each year. It is a four day ride which has travelled across most of SA, Riverland and Mildura and one trip to Beechworth and the Snowy Mountains. This year it starts from The Stirling Hotel and goes to Robe for the first night, then through western Victoria to Nelson, Wannon Falls and back to Penola. Everyone stays in Penola for two nights and on Saturday ride out through Edenhope, Balmoral, Harrow, Dergholm and back to Penola. The focus is on cruising through picturesque country, staying in good accommodation at interesting locations, eating gourmet food and, at night, enjoying great wines and enjoying the company of a group of likeminded people. As with all Variety events, the focus is on raising funds which Variety can distribute to sick and disadvantaged children throughout South Australia. Andrew and Sue Marshall, and SACARE have been supporters of Variety since the first V2 event, SACARE are Gold sponsors of the event and our staff, suppliers and contacts have also been generous supporters of Variety over those ten years.

The event is designed to attract motorcycle enthusiasts who enjoy “firing up their bikes for a four-day luxury cruise”. For more information on the event click here.

“I just adore the effortless magnificent riding with the food, the company and just a very special time.” Anthony Toop, Bike 8
“…the food, oh… the food, real gourmet meals and treats!” Mark Pickard, Bike 2
