SACARE provides CHSP domestic assistance across Adelaide's southern and western suburbs, including cleaning, grocery shopping, and linen services. Services are delivered at the national CHSP unit price of $64.05 per hour with no out-of-pocket expenses for eligible clients.

What Is the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)?

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is an Australian Government–funded program that helps older Australians live independently at home for longer. It provides subsidised, entry-level support services including domestic assistance, personal care, and transport, to people aged 65 and over (or 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people).

CHSP is coordinated through My Aged Care and requires a referral from an assessor before services can begin. Once approved, clients receive a subsidy that covers the cost of services like SACARE's

Cleaning

General House Cleaning:

This includes tasks like vacuuming, dusting, mopping floors, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens.

Specialised Cleaning:

Assistance with cleaning specific areas that may require more effort, such as windows or ovens, though this is usually less frequent (ie. Spring cleaning)

Shopping

Grocery Shopping

The service provider can shop on behalf of the client based on a provided list.

Errands

This may also include picking up prescriptions or other essential items as required.

Linen Services

Changing Bed Linen

Assistance with changing and washing bed sheets, pillowcases, and other linen.

Laundering Linen:

Includes washing, drying, ironing, and folding bed linen and other household linens like towels.
