What most people get wrong about in-home supports
Are your clients truly maximising their NDIS plan?
Many aren’t... and that means missed opportunities for independence, inclusion, and well-being.
At SACARE, we often meet participants who are receiving only a fraction of the supports they’re entitled to. The good news? With the right team behind them (and you), we can help change that.
How to Tell If a Plan Is Being Underutilised
Are there gaps in daily support?
Supports like personal care, medication management, or community participation are often overlooked, even though they can dramatically improve quality of life.
Is Core Support funding being used flexibly?
Many participants don’t realise this funding can include:
Drop-in visits
Overnight support
Help with household chores
Social and community participation
Martin at Hahndorf
Martin's Story
When Martin first joined SACARE, he rarely left the house. He was quiet, reserved, and unsure of what was possible.
When he moved into our Magill accommodation, life felt small. Outings were rare. Social settings felt overwhelming. He had so much potential, but he just needed the right people around him.
So, we started slow. A friendly chat. A short walk around the neighbourhood.
Little by little, his confidence grew.
Martin at the Adelaide Zoo
Fast forward to today, and Martin’s life looks completely different.
He’s hanging out at the Adelaide Zoo, laughing with his support workers and feeding the giraffes.
He’s soaking up the charm of Hahndorf, browsing local shops and enjoying a treat or two.
He’s loving the buzz of the Royal Adelaide Show; he even went for a ride on the accessible Ferris wheel!
And when it’s footy season? Martin’s all in, cheering from the stands, living in the moment.
This is what can happen with the right support.
