Power of Partnerships: What Have Our Partners Been Up to Recently?

This month we have been exploring collaborations and partnerships in the disability space. We believe that working hand in hand with other companies and associations leads to the best outcomes for the community, our participants and the business as a whole.

Every individual with a disability is unique and has their own needs, and not one agency can do it all on their own. Sharing knowledge is often the key to innovation, solutions and opening up the door to new ways of thinking.

Want to join us and connect with other providers in the disability space?
Check out the One Community Ready-Set Connect Speed Networking event we’re holding next month!

Variety SA is the main charity that SACARE support. The Variety Ball was on the 15th of June and is one of their biggest events for the year. We regularly donate a week on our wheelchair accessible houseboat, Imagination which raises thousands on the night. They will also be holding their annual V2 Motorcycle Run later in the year, which members from the Marshall family will be riding in.

Currently, we're raising funds for the V2 Motorcycle Run by hosting two major events, the Art After Dark art night and a Quiz night (with a 70’s twist). For more information and tickets for the events please head to the Facebook events.

Healthy Care Services have been established as a partner through a longstanding partnership with TerryWhite Chemmart Mawson Lakes. Our partnership enables SACARE participants to receive a comprehensive pharmacy service, tailored for people living with a complex disability. Healthy Care Services is South Australian based and shares SACARE's governance standards. Their group's pharmacies work closely with our team to ensure our participants have a high quality and reliable pharmacy service. The upcoming Variety quiz night will also be held in their Healthy Living Precinct, a space that SACARE has utilised in the past for our pop-up. It’s an innovative and versatile space and we’re thrilled to be using it for another SACARE event.

The Good Scout Travel Co. want to connect SACARE participants with meaningful accessible experiences and are exploring how 3D walkthrough technology can improve the whole travel experience. That's why they have partnered with a national immersive technology company to encourage tourism operators to create virtual tours to show off their accessible spaces. Check out the QT Melbourne as an example of what is possible. The Good Scout would love to know if this sort of information makes a difference to you or what else would make your Australian travels better!

Determined 2 have continued their brilliant Immersion Therapy in 2019. Along with some of our clients participating in their Immersion Therapy; we have also had new support workers join SACARE after taking part in an Immersion Therapy course - a program that was devised in collaboration with Return 2 Work.

MND SA does a lot to support our participants with Motor Neuron Disease. They are a not-for-profit, non-government funded organisation and fundraising is their main source of income. Earlier this year they held a quiz night, they have held various sausage sizzles and in August we'll be sponsoring their 'Glitz and Glamour' Gala dinner. For more information and tickets, please head to the Facebook event.

Huntington’s SA & NT is one such example of a partnership that fosters a close relationship between the Huntington’s community in South Australia and SACARE's supported independent living accommodation. General Manager of Huntington’s SA & NT, Michele Giles-Clark, said SACARE's approach to providing the right care and accommodation was a huge step in the right direction for our Huntington’s community. You can read more about our most recent fundraiser for Huntington's here.

Schinella's have recently come on board with SACARE and now deliver fresh produce to all accommodation and to the SACARE head office. They have been providing us with platters for events for a little white now, but we are happy to now have them delivering delicious fresh food to all of our accommodation too. We love supporting local business!

As you can see, SACARE are supporters and have forged partnerships with many brilliant South Australian companies. We’re proud to be a South Australian owned and run company that does as much as it can for the community around us- something that will definitely continue on into the future!
