Here's What The Journo Squad Has to Say For International Woman's Day

Well hello there friends, it's the SACARE journo squad here again, Mekkel and Dylan from Briarholm. We do apologise, we have had a little break from our journo squad as we have been really busy being out and about but here we are and let's talk WOMEN! Today, the 8th of March is International Woman’s Day and we have decided to bring you a blog dedicated to the women of the world who mean a lot to us and some fun facts about being a woman.

We have spent our morning baking cakes for the women who support us along with the women we live with. We also interviewed the superstars that support us and asked them questions about the awesomeness that comes with being a woman.

Here are our amazing interviews from Briarholm, Kingswood:

AMY B:

What is your favorite thing about being a woman?
I like that a lot of women are caring, and you can go into a caring profession and it seems kind of natural - easily done by women!

What is one piece of advice you would give to all the other women of the world?
Oooh.. um.. I think to start a new motion of women supporting women and not letting women be the face of adversity for other women in the workplace and professional life. Tearing women down is already done and other don’t need to do that.

TARA

What is your favorite thing about being a woman?
Being able to have children and be a mum. I don’t have any yet.

What is one piece of advice you would give to all the other women of the world?
You do you, girl.

JENNY

What is your favorite thing about being a woman?
I like being feminine. I like that. The pretty parts of being women!

What is one piece of advice you would give to all the other women of the world?
Be strong in your beliefs; be determined in what you believe in!

AMY R

What is your favorite thing about being a woman?
The cool things that girls can buy and the mischief we can get up too.

What is one piece of advice you would give to all the other women of the world?
Be strong - trust your gut.

MELISSA
We asked our Activity Coordinator what she loves about being a woman, and she responded with this:

I love being strong, I love being independent, I love being an example, and I love being able to build other women up. I think it’s important not to separate the two and remember that men deserve as much credit as women however I don’t mind a bit of praise and praising other women for doing an amazing job. As Beyoncé once said, who run the world? Girls!

DYLAN

Which special woman in your life would you like to say something to?
My mum, she is in heaven now. I watched her go through Huntington ’s disease and was so strong. She gave me a lot of love and hugs and was the best mum I could ever imagine having. I think of mum a lot, I am glad my family has filled my room with memories. She was the best, she still is.

Fun facts about the women of the world:

1) Women agree that the washing basket is this magical tool that you can place your dirty laundry into it rather than a floordrobe. – this may or may not have been put in by Melissa…

2) Women spend a year of their lives on deciding what to wear!

3) Women listen with both sides of their brain!

4) Women multitask better than men because the orpus callosum in the female brain is larger! Source.

Here are some fun pics of just SOME of the amazing woman we surround ourselves with...
