Peace of Mind is a Partnership - Why SACARE's In-Home Services Are The Best Support For Your Best Life

Chris has been Alice’s support worker for over 27 years

Living your best life means something different to every one of us. At the heart of SACARE’s In-Home services purpose is the perspective that delivering peace of mind is not just a service–it's a warm and genuine connection through the partnership created between client and support worker.

The activities and services the client and team can connect with together in the community, through the clients work, interests and hobbies.

Making Adventures A Reality Regardless of Needs

A beautiful story of this is Chris and Alice. Chris has been a continuous support for Alice for almost 27 years. Alice, an adventurous spirit with an active social life and an unstoppable attitude, sees her goals become reality with Chris, and the rest of Alice’s support team, by her side.

Their support time together has taken them from the beauty of Cape Jervis to the fun of Monarto. They know the journeys take teamwork, planning and dedication to reach the end goal - helping Alice live her best life. "It's not a one-person job, but we made it happen," says Chris.

Above and Beyond - Supporting Like Family

Reflecting on moments when support workers at SACARE have gone above and beyond to help Alice feel included, valued and worthy, Alice shares the time a Team Leader at SACARE’s Kingswood home took her to meet the Team Leader’s dad at Port Vincent for a day trip, providing Alice a sense of community and belonging. SACARE creates bonds that go beyond the conventional, delivering peace of mind by ensuring clients feel valued and connected in a way that best suits their personal wants and needs.

A Support Workers Perspective - The Motivation Behind It All

For Chris, the journey started with Alice herself. Inspired and motivated by her resilience and determination, Chris found not just a job, but a partnership that spans over a decade. The warmth of this connection is clear in the shared circle of friends, connections from school, and even attending family events.

SACARE's dedication to peace of mind is about facing challenges to turn them into opportunities for growth and shared experiences

An example of this is when Chris, drawing on her extensive clinical and nursing expertise, hand-ventilated Alice throughout the entire taxi ride home after her ventilator battery failed.

From Goals to Daily Living - TAFE studying to a graphic design career

Support workers play a crucial role in turning goals into reality, and SACARE wholeheartedly supports these aspirations by ensuring accessibility, providing options, offering choices, and assisting with funding and access to services. Chris has been a consistent presence throughout Alice's educational development, accompanying her to school every year through diverse programs, guiding her through high school, and ultimately attending with her in her position at Blend Creative in 2013. Now, Alice actively pursues her passion for graphic design two days a week with Chris's support.

A Partnership Of Professionalism, Personal Values and Clinical Support

SACARE values professionalism and partnership and Chris emphasises the importance of working within boundaries and clinical quality, but also adds a touch of fun is absolutely necessary.

Chris and Alice share personal values crucial to being outstanding support workers. Compassion, understanding, and respect form the foundation of their partnership, creating a blend of two individuals working together as a team that is rewarding to both the client and the support worker alike.

Building Relationships - Ensuring Peace of Mind

Chris emphasises that being in disability support is not just a service; it's about relationship building. Knowing the client, picking each other up when needed, and finding inspiration in the journey–these are the elements that ensure SACARE's support is not merely a service but a genuine source of peace of mind. It's a partnership where both clients and support workers uplift and empower each other, creating uplifting, genuine experiences and fulfilment.

In the world of SACARE, "Peace of Mind is a Partnership," and the story of Chris and Alice is just one example of choice, control, reliability, and responsiveness.
