Face Masks Essential From 12.01 am 1 December 2020, all people in health care settings must wear a single-use surgical mask (covering mouth and nose) at all times when in the physical presence of other people on the premises. All people includes: - care providers
- patients
- clients
- residents
- administrative and other staff
- employees
- visitors
- students
- contractors
- any other person on the premises
There are exceptions for mandatory mask use in health care settings. The definition of a health care setting includes GP clinics, public and private hospitals and specialist practices (including drug and alcohol facilities), pharmacies, allied health services, dental services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
